This was a two semester course that focus on mirroring a first year law student experience. The year long courses answers the question "Is Law School right for me?" I was able to answer this question through learning the core law school subjects such as torts, contract, and legal methods. We also had guest lectures from law faculty such as Cristina Alonzo. This course open my eyes to legal research but advocacy, one project we were provided was going to watch a court hearing where I saw a murder trial. The importance of this class was I was able to understand law and politics. Global learning is about being globally aware and with issues like immigration and social injustice knocking on our door, it is important to understand how the law and those creating it play a role. When Cristina Alonzo came to lecture she talked about how her career as one of the first pro-Bono lawyer who represented LGBQT issues changed her path, she made me want to focus on pro-Bono because many lawyers neglect this or chose not to represent pro-Bono cases. Our society deserve the reinsurance that their Fifth-Amendment rights are not only protected, but that someone cares about them and their case. I attached my retake final exam as the professor wanted to see our improvement from our first legal memo.
